Merry Fricking Christmas

Right before Christmas there was some excitement in Resaca. On Friday night, we could see flashing red lights at a neighbors house down the road from us. We were worried about a friend and neighbor who was very sick.

On Saturday we saw more flashing lights and my husband said it looked like a boom or something being pulled from the ditch. I had to go investigate.

It turns out a driver lost control of his truck and hit two ditches before diving nose first into the second ditch.

I talked to some neighbors and asked if anyone was hurt. They said nobody was hurt badly, whatever that means after crashing in a ditch. They also told me that our neighbor, Richard, had gotten disoriented because of the medicine he was taking and the family called an ambulance for him.

I hope Richard and the man driving the white truck are going to be alright.

Like I always say, It's always something in Resaca. Stay safe, folks, and slow down and don't drink and drive.

Train Wreck

Train Derailment

Part II
The other day I posted pictures of all the activity in Resaca after a train wreck. Today I was overcome with curiosity and decided to take another trek through the woods to see what I could find.

Trees were splintered and pushed down and I could see the workers down the railroad tracks a piece from me. I steered clear of them and wound my way through the woods looking for wreckage.

Bingo!

It's Always Something

Train Derailment

PART I
Donny went walking on Chitwood Road yesterday. He said he heard a loud sound like a sonic boom and when he turned around to look behind him he saw a cloud of smoke rising in the distance. He was near gate #5 on the road. This is where they always have the reenactment of the Battle of Resaca.

Last night we had some excitement in Resaca as tractor trailer trucks rambled down Highway 41 and turned onto Chitwood Road. I counted four flatbeds carrying big equipment and then three or four more showed up.

I couldn't figure out what was going on so I went walking on Chitwood Road to find out what was going on. When I went for my walk I saw nine trucks and heavy equipment at the end of Chitwood Road.

I asked one of the men what was going on and he said there had been a train derailment and teams were called in from Atlanta and Knoxville, Tennessee to help.

I wanted to walk down into the woods but since they are still working and it wouldn't probably be safe I figured I could do that some other day.
